Experience Preschool Curriculum’s concept creates a platform for children to express themselves through a variety of channels. It enables an early start to self-discovery, creativity and healthy decision-making through hands-on experiences. This curriculum is focused on play-centered learning for preschool. Teachers and the natural environment are integrated to encourage and foster curiosity, exploration and discovery. The program promotes hands-on experiences and development of 35 skills within the following areas:
Social and Emotional Development
Physical and Motor
Language and Literacy
Math and Reasoning
Science
Social Studies
Creative Arts
Second Language
Community Challenges
The challenges are focused on supporting children in developing social-emotional skills. This is accomplished with a simple activity focused on teamwork, which can easily be incorporated into morning time or circle time. A new community challenge is included for each day of the program. All of the community challenges focus on building teamwork, compassion, stewardship, or growing in perseverance and confidence while taking leadership roles.
Small Group Math/Literature
Children benefit from small group instruction more than whole group instruction because the educator can connect with each child, and the curriculum can be individualized as needed so children can build skills. When you implement small group activities into the daily schedule your children will learn more. Support learning and assess development during small group activities, meeting each child’s needs.
Arts & Crafts
Process-Focused Art is when a child is given an open-ended project and they have the opportunity to express themselves through their work. Though process-focused art can end up being a gift or decoration, however the artwork turns out is based on your child’s discovery and creativeness.
Product-Focused Art is when a child begins a project knowing what the end product should look like and they follow a set of instructions to get to their goal. Product-focused art have a right and wrong way to work on the project and typically require a specific skill and technique to reach that end goal.
STEAM
Science - Technology - Engineering - Art - Math
Through fun experiments, STEAM learning activities encourage children to hone their observation skills, find patterns, analyze results, and predict outcomes. Introducing this type of scientific thinking to little learners instills essential critical thinking skills, and helps them become better problem solvers.
Music & Movement
Music and movement activities support cognitive and physical development and are great ways to burn off preschool energy. Additionally, there are many benefits to the child’s development when you include dance in your daily routine:
Builds confidence
Physical strength to move and act independently
Independence, in turn, supports the development of social-emotional skills
Dancing in groups increases respect for others and awareness of personal space.
MONTHLY THEMES
Themes help preschoolers construct knowledge and build connections through real experiences. Instead of having a day of disjointed activities, themes organize new information around a unified context, which results in a growing web of knowledge.
Each theme creatively integrates colors, shapes, numbers and letters of the month.
Monthly themes invite children to explore new ideas with an interdisciplinary, multi-sensory approach. Experience Curriculum uses music, art, dramatic play, storytelling, games, books and experiments to ignite imagination and bring the theme to life in four weeks of wonder.
